In a significant ruling, the Khed Additional District and Sessions Court in Ratnagiri has acquitted Shiv Sena leader and former minister Anil Parab, along with all other accused, in the widely discussed Sai Resort case from Murud, Dapoli. The verdict brings closure to a controversy that had remained in the spotlight for the past few years.

The case had implicated several officials, including revenue officers and the then village sarpanch, under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act. Allegations ranged from tax evasion and improper stamp duty payment to illegal construction in a CRZ-restricted zone and the use of forged documents.

However, the defense successfully argued that land and construction are legally distinct entities, a point accepted by the court. Citing lack of sufficient evidence, the court acquitted all accused.

The case had also triggered intense political debate, particularly after allegations raised by BJP leader Kirit Somaiya. While the legal chapter has now concluded, the political repercussions are expected to continue.
