Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Member of Legislative Council, Adv. Anil Parab, has launched a sharp attack on the Maharashtra government during a press interaction, demanding the resignation of minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha over alleged discriminatory conduct in public service.
Parab raised concerns over a contradiction within the state leadership, noting that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has publicly assured citizens that there is no shortage of essential fuels such as gas, diesel, and petrol, urging people not to panic or queue up.
Despite this assurance, Parab pointed out that minister Lodha reportedly issued a letter recommending the allocation of gas cylinders specifically for Jain derasars. He questioned the rationale behind such a move if supplies are indeed sufficient for all.
“If there is no shortage as stated by the Chief Minister, then why is a minister prioritising a specific religious community?” Parab asked, adding that a minister is duty-bound to serve all citizens equally rather than represent any one group.
He further alleged that such actions could create confusion among citizens and contribute to the spread of unnecessary rumours regarding fuel availability.
Calling it a serious governance issue, Parab stated that ministers take an oath to act without discrimination. “Favouring a particular community goes against that oath and raises serious constitutional concerns,” he said.
Demanding accountability, Parab urged Chief Minister Fadnavis to take immediate action. “If a minister is acting in a biased manner, the Chief Minister must seek his resignation,” he asserted.
Parab concluded by emphasizing that governance in Maharashtra must remain inclusive and unbiased. “A minister represents the entire state, not just one community,” he said.
